- Stainless steel sink – this kitchen feature mostly suffers from limescale. This shows in the form of easily distinguished white marks, caused by hard water residue. Apply to the affected area and clean with a microfibre cloth. Rinse thoroughly with water afterwards.
- Stainless steel hood – the main problem for stainless steel hoods lies with the oil and grease buildup that accumulates there over time. Perhaps the best thing you can do is to try and be a little preventive. Lay down some newspaper or an old towel under the cooker hood to catch any unwanted drips. As for cleaning an already messy hood, you can use a specialised cleaning product or a mix of baking soda, water and lemon juice. Rub the solution gently into the surface and leave it there a few minutes. That will give it enough time to eat away the grease. Use a sponge for the residue and rinse off with water. Buff with a clean, soft cloth to make sure no streaks remain.
- Stainless steel hob – steel hobs may gather some spills and burnt-on food, which causes quite a messy look. It is best to remove the pan stands and just soak them in water. A creamy cleanser works best for cleaning the stainless steel hob, as it minimises the risk of scratches. Gently rub the solution into the stained areas with a soft cloth or a sponge. Buff the metal with a clean, soft cloth for a shiny finish.
- Stainless steel appliances – many appliances in the kitchen have a nice brushed steel finish. To enjoy your reflection in it, you need to pay regular attention to cleaning. The first thing you should do is wipe the surface of the appliance with a microfibre cloth and hot water/dishwashing liquid. Remember to rub in the direction of the grain of the metal so as not to scratch it. Once finished, make sure you buff the surface with a dry cloth.
